One of the most iconic and popular BMWs ever produced, the E39 M5 really is all things to all drivers, combining the luxury and comfort of the family saloon with the powerhouse V8. This S62, highly-tuned, 5Ltr engine kicks out a huge 400bhp, transforming into a fire-breathing monster with a quick burst of the fly-by-the-wire throttle and pulling the 1826 kg M5 from 0-60 in less than 4.8 seconds. The twin double-VANOS system varies intake and exhaust valve times for both cylinder banks as well as individual throttle actuators for the individual throttle butterflies, all of which gives a massively increased engine response time. By twinning this to the Getrag, 6-speed manual transmission gearbox, BMW created the superlative overall driving experience that is so characteristic of this, their most successful and sought after 5 series.
This M5 has been immaculately maintained by BMW main dealers including the all-important running-in service at 1,543 miles, and is due an oil service that will be carried out by our BMW-trained specialist senior and master technicians within the cost of the sale. This M5 is in a phenomenal condition due to it still being covered by a comprehensive BMW warranty – something almost unheard of for M5s of this age – which is fully transferable to the new owner. This has just proved to be particularly vital as the car has only recently returned from BMW having had a new twin VANOS unit and gears replaced. Although there was no discernible running fault or reduction of power, part of our thorough Munich Legends sales inspection process includes a full VANOS test – which this M5 failed on bank 1, being slightly out of tolerance. Having that warranty in place meant that the car was fitted with a brand new BMW VANOS system by a main dealer – an item that would have cost well in excess of £3,500 + VAT to fit without it!
